Packing Bags

While the kids were busy packing and sharing with their friends that they would be missing two weeks of school, my husband and I were busy working out the Australian dollar exchange rate and what it meant for our travels. The tricky part was that we were planning to visit six different countries in our six weeks of travel - that was a lot of currencies.

Doing The Maths

Maths has never been my strong point, and unfortunately, it wasn't my husband's either. This left us in a pickle. We did a big money transfer into an international bank account, so we had access to plenty of money while we were overseas. We weren't sure whether we should convert some to cash as well before we left and if that would give us a better exchange rate. This was all definitely beyond us.

Help needed

In the end, I went to some friends for help. They had just returned from a big overseas trip, so I knew they would have lots of advice for us. My friend pointed me in the direction of a currency converter app that I could type any currency and any amount into, and get the immediate exchange rate. It meant I would instantly know how much things cost in Australian dollars.
